Description

The Half-Pipe of Samil is one of Vigo's most iconic skating spots, located directly on the promenade beside Samil Beach. Built entirely from concrete and partially sunken into the promenade, the half-pipe is a distinctive and imposing structure that has been part of Vigo's skating landscape for decades.

The ramp is known for its considerable size and height, making it a challenging spot for riders looking to skate transitions and get some serious air. Its concrete surface and painted finish can be somewhat slippery, but the size and character of the ramp have made it a memorable spot for generations of skaters, inline skaters and BMX riders.

More than just a ramp, the Samil Half-Pipe has a place in the history of Vigo's urban sports culture. It has been used by different generations of riders since the early days of skateboarding in the city and remains one of the most recognisable skating landmarks along the Galician coast.

With Samil Beach and its long promenade immediately around it, the location also offers a unique setting for skating, combining the half-pipe with a popular seaside area and a wider space used by the local skating community.

The Half-Pipe is currently at risk of disappearing as part of the planned redevelopment of the Samil promenade, prompting a community campaign to preserve the ramp and the adjacent skating area.
