A Day of Rollerblading at Mimó Trashpark
Mimo Day V is the fifth edition of the aggressive inline skating event organised by Watermelon Crew, bringing the rollerblading community back together at the iconic Mimó Trashpark in Cerdanyola del Vallès, just outside Barcelona.
Over the years, Mimo Day has become one of those events that reflects the DIY spirit of the local rollerblading scene. Rather than simply providing a place for a competition, it brings riders together for a full day of skating, sessions, meeting friends and enjoying the atmosphere around one of Barcelona's most distinctive skateparks.
A Skatepark Built by the Community
At the centre of Mimo Day is Mimó Trashpark itself.
The park is a DIY spot built and developed by and for skaters, giving the local community a place to skate and experiment with different ideas outside the more conventional skatepark environment. Its character is part of what makes Mimo Day different from a standard rollerblading contest.
The park continues to depend on the people who use it, and keeping a DIY skatepark running requires constant work, maintenance and improvements. This is why Mimo Day has always had another purpose beyond the skating itself: helping to support the future of Mimó Trashpark.
Five Editions of Mimo Day
Mimo Day V marks the fifth edition of the event.
The previous editions have already established the format as a meeting point for the local scene and visiting riders. The second edition in 2023 brought around 90 people to Mimó Trashpark, with riders competing in different formats and special awards including Best Trick, Most Switch-Ups and Last Man Standing.
The fourth edition followed in May 2025, again combining aggressive inline skating with the fundraising aspect of the event. Around 100 people attended Mimo Day 4, with the money raised going towards maintaining and expanding the Trashpark.
Five editions in, Mimo Day has become more than a yearly contest. It is an opportunity for the community to return to the park, bring new riders into the scene and spend a day skating together.
Competition, Sessions and Community
Mimo Day V brings together local riders and visitors for a full day centred around aggressive inline skating.
The competitive side of the event provides the opportunity for riders to put their skating to the test, but the day is not limited to the competition. Sessions at Mimó are an important part of the experience, giving riders the freedom to skate the park, try new tricks, work on lines and share the obstacles with everyone else.
That combination of competition and open skating is particularly fitting for a DIY park. Mimó is a place where riders can approach the obstacles in their own way, and the atmosphere of the event reflects that freedom.
For spectators, it also means that there is plenty to see throughout the day, from younger and developing skaters to experienced riders pushing the limits of what can be done around the park.
Supporting Mimó Trashpark
Mimo Day also has a practical purpose.
The event helps raise money for Mimó Trashpark, contributing to the ongoing work required to maintain and improve the facilities. This fundraising element is an important part of the event's identity and gives the day a direct benefit for the place where it takes place.
Supporting a DIY skatepark is ultimately about supporting the community around it. Every improvement to the park creates more possibilities for future sessions, more space for riders to develop their skating and another reason for people to come together.
Mimo Day V
The fifth edition takes place on May 9th at Mimó Trashpark in Cerdanyola del Vallès.
With competitions, sessions and activities planned throughout the day, Mimo Day V offers another opportunity to experience the atmosphere of the Trashpark and spend a day surrounded by aggressive inline skating.
Whether you're coming to compete, skate, watch the action or simply spend the day with the local rollerblading community, Mimo Day is an event built around the same principle as the park itself: the community makes it happen.
Come skate, enjoy the action and help support Mimó Trashpark.
